from the physical shelves 3: october 2026

october 2026 physical reads

I decided to focus on some Horror on my shelves this month! It seemed appropriate. Didn't get to as many titles as I hoped, but progress was still made.

Mimi's Tales of Terror by Junji Ito (Horror Manga)
As always: fun, unsettling, and a bit gross at times.

Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman (Historical Horror)
I disliked everything about this. The writing style, the narrative structure, the plot development, the characters... nothing worked for me. Unhauled.

Books of Blood vol. 5 by Clive Barker (Horror)
CANDYMAN SHORT STORY MY LOOOOOOVE!!!! I'd never read it before and I had such a great time with it! I also fell in love with the final short story, In the Flesh, since I have a thing for when Barker writes about the world of the dead and their cities and such. A very fun time for me :D

House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski (Horror)
A reread for me in Brazilian Portuguese. I had such vivid memories of some parts of the story while having "no memory of this place" during others. It was still fun to get through the different formatting and everything.

Psychic Witch by Mat Auryn (Witchcraft)
Some of the concepts presented weren’t for me, but I really liked the variety of exercises throughout the book. I’ll definitely try a few of them and see how I get on.
