final fmc readathon: prep
The Final FMC Readathon starts September 1st and I'd like to at least have some book options already queued up for it. I've signed up to be part of the 🦇 Goths team hell yeah 🦇 and so my main theme for the readathon is: books with black covers.
the buddy read.
🩸 My Heart is a Chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones (Horror)
A reread for me! I'm going to be annotating my physical copy this time around and! making a list of all of the Horror movie references. I can't wait to return to Jade's chaotic stream of consciousness as she realizes she's living in a real slasher movie and needs to make sure her Final Girl achieves her potential.
the hopefuls.

🔪 Pink Ink by Avina St. Graves (Dark Romance)
This is about "a horror-obsessed film student who's secretly tracking the murders of a serial killer--unaware he's also her brooding professor." Sounds right up my alley in terms of messed up romance. Curious to see what the Horror refs will be and if I'll end up with another list of movies to watch.
🔎 Lady X by Molly Fader (Mystery)
Split narrative mystery where "a notorious vigilante exposes the secrets between three generations of women [...] from contemporary L.A. to gritty, 1970s New York." I love revenge stories, especially when bad men get what's coming to them \o/
🪱 Wolf Worm by T. Kingfisher (Horror)
It's my goal to read some Kingfisher backlist titles this year. This is supposed to be a Souther Gothic set in late-1800s North Carolina and apparently there are bugs! I hate insects, so I'm sure this will work very well as a Horror pick for me this month.
I'm sure other titles will be added to my plans when the readathon officially starts. There will be weekly rounds with new prompts, and I hope to use those to knock some physical books off my TBR. 🖤
