horror. 29 episodes. spoilers below.Englewood After Dark is a horror/drama podcast following the adventures of Finn Nightingale and Eve Pemberly as they uncover the many secrets lurking on the haunted campus of Englewood University.!!! Season 1 had 29 episodes. I am still, 100%, in love with the first half of those. The premise of 2 university students investigating their campus' (supernatural) urban legends was soooooo good. The contrast between Finn the Believer and Eve the Skeptic made for such a fun dynamic throughout the show. And then the serial killing! Ghosts! Secret Societies! Conspiracies! It got better and better to listen to.
The second half of episodes/season 1 arc, though... it lost a bit of the shine. The cast of characters grew, which made a bit difficult for me to follow along with some scenes. Eve's arc and the way she dealt with it, especially with how she treated Finn, really didn't work for me. I guess... the stakes were higher? And the plot expanded considerably to something more complex and with a lot of threads to follow. It was a big shift, personally, and made the season feel very unbalanced. Maybe if the episodes had been split into different seasons? I don't know.
It all ended in a big cliffhanger! That I'm not all that sure I liked? But I really want to continue with the show and see which direction the second season takes. Fingers crossed I'll find it just as fun!
